Top Musicians Bring Their Talents to Historic Tarboro
Master piano teachers Gustave and Carol Ferri have long been recognized in the New York tri-state area for their outstanding pianism and teaching. They now bring their skills and traditions to Edgecombe County.
GUSTAVE FERRI is the Founder-Director of the Piano Teachers Society of America, which for 35 years has motivated students with their recitals, auditions and competitions, and it has presented its winning musicians at New York City’s Carnegie Hall. In great demand as a private piano teacher, Gustave Ferri has also served on the piano faculty at Fairleigh Dickinson University, New Jersey. He has had active memberships with the New Jersey Music Teachers Association, The Leschetizky Association, and the Music Educators Association of New Jersey. He has shared his wisdom and expertise with students and teachers alike, offering seminars, master classes, and community service projects. For many years he served in the Chamber of Commerce and the Historical Society in Denville, New Jersey.
CAROL FERRI has enjoyed a highly successful career as both concert pianist and master teacher over the years. In hearing her New York recitals at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall, the New York Times praised her “virtuoso performance,” and called her playing “a delight...with persuasive interpretive insight.” Her solo and chamber concerts took her to the South, the Midwest, and the East as well as Italy and England. Her orchestral appearance in Chopin’s Concerto “brought down the house.” For 14 years Ms. Ferri served as Adjunct Professor of Piano at Kean University, New Jersey, where she guided piano majors. Her lecture-recitals on various topics have been popular on the college circuit as well as with music organizations throughout the East. She is Co-Director of the Piano Teachers Society of America, and she continues as an adjudicator for many competitions. Ms. Ferri is highly sought out as a teacher of all ages, but particularly high school and college students preparing for college auditions and musical careers.
RANDY FERRI, gifted guitarist and private teacher, has established a highly successful career throughout the East coast. He studied music at Kean University, New Jersey, and studied classical and jazz guitar with the top teachers in the area. For years he was active as a studio musician and touring artist, and he was the lead guitarist for the band Roxx. Randy is an inspiring, creative teacher of all styles of guitar playing: classical, pop, and rock. His engaging personality is appealing to teens, adults, and students of all ages. In addition to his guitar background, Randy is an effective and experienced teacher of piano. He recognizes that students have different learning styles, and for that reason he tailors the lessons to the individual student. He is in demand for coaching up-and-coming bands, enabling them to achieve the levels required for public and professional performance.
